HEREWEAR meets Antwerp: towards sustainable textiles & fashion
09.30 - 16.30
THE PROJECT
HEREWEAR innovates with a holistic, systemic approach towards the creation of an EU market for locally produced circular textiles and clothing made from bio-based waste. To this aim, HEREWEAR focusses on:
· Design. A database and guidelines are being produced to support the design of fashion goods; with a focus on the best performance for bio-based materials and for reuse/recycling.
· Bio-based Materials. New material solutions build on the latest bio-based polyesters and cellulose developments. Further, the subsequent coating, printing & colouring are bio-based.
· Local manufacturing relying on microfactories. Garment prototypes for streetwear and corporate clothing will be produced. For replication we will study the setup of connected microfactories organised into regional value creation circles.
